3 things I've learned from watching the Miracle Train...
1. This cool idea drew me in. Loved the idea of a group of hot guys who are solely dedicated to helping damsels in distress one girl at a time. The premise of the Miracle Train is a magical train that will pick up a passenger in need so that the guys can help fix whatever is wrong in her life. Nice idea, huh? Wonder if the Miracle Train ever visits Pittsburgh?
2. The blunt intro of the characters was a bit jarring but it's fine to get to know them fast. Kind of like - "Hi there! These are our heroes!"
3. Ten minutes into the first episode I hit my first serious annoyance. Thereis this cute little girl who is chasing her lost dog when she winds up on the Miracle Train. But when it comes to intro the heroes, the dog doesn't matter. In fact they don't bring it up again until the pooch is needed for the plot.
So far I'm not terribly impressed with the Miracle Train. It's got nice art and an interesting premise but the story line will have to buck up a bit to keep my attention. I'll probably give it another episode just to be sure.

Three Things Thursday: Legend of Legenday Heroes
3 things I've learned from watching.... The Legend of Legendary Heroes
1. Sleeping can be heroic.
2. Sometimes its okay to give up. Or is it? Perhaps human nature demands that even the most laid back among us will seek out the hard path at least sometimes. Or if that inner drive is sleeping, then the push may just come from a best friend who wants to be king.
3. Those with power don't always use it. When its great enough they may fear to unleash that power no matter the risk. At times like that... consider a nap.
In case you were wondering, I do really like this animated show. It's one of those shows that focuses on the characters and stories and is suitable for both kids and adults. (Though it can at times be bloody and jokes some about sexuality) Overall, I'd give it a thumbs up. 4.5 stars. I've already watched the season with subtitles and the first four episodes that have been dubbed. I'll be watching for the rest when they are released dubbed.

Six Sentence Sunday: Blood Justice
Sadaen watched the angel and would have been content to
die with her as his last sight. Her grace and skill had always been honed to a
deadly point, but there was something very different about now.
Her powers, white light straight from the Creator, were
shadowed, their flawless brilliance streaked with his darker magic... The
twisting of their shared magic entranced him.
She twirled before him, leaving feather-shaped trails of
power in her wake. The motion brought her close enough to strike at him with
the ceremonial blade.

First Kiss Friday: The Jade Prince
Then Jin wasn't Jin any more. Maybe if Cal hadn't been
so desperate, so close, and holding his friend's gaze in the only means
of help he could offer, maybe if he had even blinked at the wrong time
he wouldn't have seen. But he'd seen the moment in crystal clear detail,
the exact second when his best friend's clear brown eyes had changed.
The round human look disappeared, shifting to the green slitted eyes of
an animal, a reptile. The look in those eyes was not even one bit Jin.
The being looking back at him was wild and in pain. Haunted and well
past deranged.
The question "Who are you?" hovered on Cal's lips, but before he could ask it out loud, the green-eyed demon spoke in a cracked whisper.
"Jade is free? Finally... free?" Despite the hesitations, the voice was smooth like Jin, but deeper.
It said Jade like a name. "Jade?"
The thing's gaze focused on Cal's face. It drew its breath in through Jin's nose as if scenting the air. Then its lips spread into a grin that promised no good will at all. "You smell tasty. Even the other thinks so."
"Who are you? What happened to Jin?"
"Jin? Oh, the other." His grin turned sneaky. "I ate him and I'll eat you, too." Jin's body jerked fiercely, rolling them from the sofa and onto the floor with a bone rattling crash. The thing controlling Jin's body pinned Cal to the floor. Its face, Jin's face, leered close. It licked along Cal's jaw, sending ripples of confused reactions skittering across Cal's skin.
He twisted and bucked but couldn't dislodge Jin's smaller body. Damn it, his job was to protect Jin, but how the hell could he protect him from whatever this thing was or intended to do?
Those green snake eyes sparkled with some devious plot. With a sudden motion, it slammed their lips together. The pressure bloomed into an explosion of heat.
Cal twisted his mouth free. "Don't." He gasped through a surprising swell of excitement. "Get a hold of yourself, Jin!"
It laughed, and the rasping sound sawed through Cal's soul. This thing wasn't Jin. That single truth ripped him apart inside. Jin, his best friend... More than that. He had always wanted to kiss Jin, to show him far more than friendship. But that had never been. Jin was straight and he wasn't. Things like that didn't change. He'd accepted it would be a one-sided love story pretty much from the beginning.
But this thing, it somehow knew his weakness, knew his secret and offered him the one temptation he had accepted would never be realized.

So what if he took her body. It would matter not at all
after her next chance to end his life. He’d promised three unmet attacks, but

Three Things Thursday: RH-Plus
3 things I've learned from watching.... RH-Plus
1. The ooops trifecta of mediocre writing, so-so acting and jarring pacing can still create a reasonably enjoyable show.
2. Too much angst is actually bad when not balanced with enough badass or humor. Watching this show really brought home the point to me. I love vampire angst. Normally I say you can't have enough. But really it has to either come with humor or rough fights to carry it off. Pure sensitive angst makes me sleepy.
3. A bit of funny cute story can overcome a lot. But really if I were to throw a couple fixes at this one...I would have teased a bit more with all those hunky boys living together. A touch of romance whether it comes with the girl who knows them or between the boys could have clinched this very well.
Overall I would rate this show a 3 of 5. With that in mind, I did enjoy the story and got to like the characters. The show focuses mostly on how they overcome loneliness to form a family. I really liked the tone of their family and how important it became to each of them. So I may not recommend watching the whole series, but will say take a little time to watch the first episode and decide for yourself.

Cool white light burst from her skin. Her wings found air,
and her true form came forth.
Surging toward him, with the holy blade ready, she
attacked.
Sadaen turned and caught her by the throat. With her blade
sunk to the hilt, he held her trapped against his body while his blood seeped
between them.
Captured and helpless, she could do nothing but stare into
his fathomless gaze.

3 more things I've learned from watching.... Betrayal Knows My Name
1. Some magic battles are silly. For example: being attacked by butterflies and fighting back with feathers. Yeah, I thought the images were beautiful but I couldn't overcome the irritation. Will have to watch it again to figure out why.
2. Tripping can be wonderfully convenient when you want your super hunky demon lover to catch you... I'm clumsy, can I have some of that too please? (yes, he has a big sword too)
3. Teenage superheroes can be quite troublesome once the villains are vanquished. Then they just turn back into normal bratty teenagers.
Okay, so I ended up posting about Betrayal Knows My Name more than I expected. Turns out that through the ups and downs of this series, I really enjoyed the ride. I highly recommend at least checking it out. Especially if you enjoy angsty vamp type stories and don't mind being teased by a boy-love theme.

1. Big words from baby heroes **should** end in them getting their snotty-nosed asses kicked. It might sound harsh but when a brand new wet-behind the ears kid starts spouting trash, I just simply hold my breath waiting for the smack-down.Then giggle with glee...
2. Being saved by the bad guy is always a nice change of pace. This is one I will remember for writing. Characters (even bad guys, maybe especially bad guys) need to be complex. As long as it makes sense eventually I really got a thrill when they acted up and did the unexpected.
3. Good and evil come from the heart and mind, not from the blood and genes... I know there are stories that can pull off the born evil theme, but I just prefer seeing how the (past) events mold the characters' personalities and actions.

About the book
After Sadaen tires of vengeance, he longs for only justice
and redemption. He finds both in the arms of an angel
determined to execute him. Lyna is convinced he deserves
to die, and she’ll do anything to bring him to justice, even
if it means betraying everything she holds dear.
Despite their long history of combat, he’s sure that only
Lyna can offer him a future worthy of his past. He’ll either
burn as the rogue demon he’s become or redeem himself through the flames of her passion. His only hope is to bind them together with a deal that could destroy them both.
An excerpt from the book
Prologue
Niflheim, Land of the Dead, A Long Time Ago
Dead.
Raylina, his wife and mate of countless centuries, was dead and gone. Sadaen’s demon heart cried out at the unexpected cruelty. How could she be taken? Why? Questions swirled through him, but each was a knife slashing through his soul.
Holding her lifeless body tight, he let the pain flood over him, out from him, did nothing to restrain it or keep it from destroying everything around him. He welcomed the rising darkness and let it whirl outward and consume the royal chambers, reaching farther, filling the marbled halls with his pain, suffering and loss. Roaring in anguish, he told all in their realm the queen was dead.
Time ceased to exist. With Raylina gone, the only truth that mattered was he had failed her, let her die, might as well have killed her. His demands had designed the end for her. Even if he hadn’t been the one to drain her soul away, he’d brought her here. He’d expected her to fill a role she’d never have seen if not for him.
His gaze landed on the Tascrina pendant resting so peacefully over her still heart. That misshapen trinity symbol and all its unwanted responsibility. How dare it touch her now after all it had done?
It had been the last of the holy weapons she’d created. The last and the greatest, a creation filled with so much of her soul that the forging of it had stolen her life. It was one weapon the Fathers of Trinity would never touch.
He resettled her carefully and unclasped the delicate chain, removing it from her narrow pale neck. When his fingers brushed the pendant, fire burst over his skin and up his arm, burning agony. And he welcomed it. Enfolding the warm metal in his fist, he held on, rocking his mate, holding the fire, and despising the fates.
Minutes or perhaps lifetimes later…
Fingers tightened over his shoulder. He looked up and met the glistening gaze of Raylina’s young sister, Delyna.
“Dear Creator.” The whispered words sounded less prayer and more curse than he’d ever heard pass the angel’s lips before. “How could she be gone? What happened?”
He couldn’t hold her blue gaze. Far too like Raylina’s. Yet behind the blue crystal, the young angel looked just as lost as he felt. It was more than just their similar blue eyes. He felt exposed before Delyna. She’d seen the truth. She’d seen his guilt.
Instead, he brushed back the curly dark hair from Raylina’s face. She’d been his fallen angel, living here in Hell and loving his demons like her own kin. She had given up everything to take on a duty never meant for her or her kind.
She’d done it all for him.
And she’d died because of that choice.
“Sadaen.” Lyna’s voice cut across his pain, ripping the wound open wide. “Sadaen, she’s gone.”
He held his mate tighter, denying the truth he didn’t want to face, wasn’t strong enough to face.
“She must be taken home.”
“You can’t have her!” he snarled at her. Black power twisted in angry tendrils along the floor. Unlike the mortal souls he and his demons worked to protect, Raylina would not be reborn. She, who could have lived forever, was now gone forever. And because of the damn holy men, the Fathers of Trinity, she could not even return to the Creator. She was forever lost, with her soul broken and trapped within their damn weapons.
“You can’t stop this, Sadaen.”
“How could you understand?” Young Lyna had been born to this new age. She might be Raylina’s sister in every way that mattered, but she couldn’t possibly understand how cruelly the world worked.
“How can I understand?” Lyna’s voice echoed angrily off the chamber walls. “She was the only family I ever had. Without her I wouldn’t even be accepted to my calling. Even with her support I face ridicule every day. Without her in my life… Without her, I have no purpose, no joy and no hope of better days. So don’t you dare tell me I can’t understand pain and loss.”
He heard it all, but it didn’t matter.
Her voice was iron. “I’m taking her soul. You can’t stop me.”
Pain, grief, and guilt warred within him. So long as his mate was in his arms it wasn’t real. It could be changed. “I can fix this.” He could control time and space and everything in between. Surely he could still save her.
“Sadaen…”
“Leave it be, child. You can’t have her soul. Not now, not ever.” Settling Raylina’s body onto their bed, he devoured the beauty of her face for several long minutes before finally leaving her and the realm behind.

Six Sentence Sunday: Blood Justice
Finding Sadaen was far easier than she’d expected.
His dark magic rippled out across the realms like tides.
And in the center of his maelstrom waited complete and utter devastation. She
found him standing still as a statue with his immense red and black wings
whipping out behind him. His black power twisted outward in search of any
remaining life, and it found none.
She knew this place, knew what it had been, and would have
been if given enough time to grow and bloom... the newly risen holy place had
been torn back down to the earth.
This Sunday my six are from Blood Royals 3: Blood Justice. Available June 4, 2012 with Liquid Silver Books.

First Kiss Friday: Blood Justice
“Wait! You can’t do this to me. You can’t just decide to
not let me fulfill our bargain. Don’t you understand what failure means? Do you
even give a shit if I’m killed for your whims?”
Of course he cared. He cared too damn much. Lyna had
become his reason to live. She’d kept his passion for life alive long past any
he could find on his own.
“Answer me, Sadaen!”
“Or what? You’ll kill me? Seems to me you keep trying.”
“Damn right I will, and the next time I try, you will be
ended. What do you think about that?”
“Most days I’d call that a blessing,” he whispered up at
the statue of Raylina portrayed with the widespread perfect wings, which she’d
given up to be with him. Not that she’d lost her wings. No, but they’d darkened
to black, never again to glow that pristine white.
“What did you say? Can’t you even look at me while casting
my life aside?”
He looked.
Her angry flushed face looked slightly up at him. Her eyes
glittered, and her fists clenched. With power whipping around her blowing hair
and feathers wildly, she was gorgeous. “You’ll be punished too. If my suffering
means nothing, then think about your own.”
Why couldn’t he take her? It was wrong, yeah, but refusing
was wrong too. Wasn’t it? And if there were no right choice, then why couldn’t
he offer them both pleasure? With the damage already done, why not at least
show her what real passion could be? Should be?
He grabbed her hard in his arms and crushed her mouth
under his own, devouring her in a long demanding kiss, so deep it stole as much
as it gave.
She didn’t kiss him back. She didn’t struggle.
He took and took from her, letting the kiss be as wild and
ferocious as he wanted, as he needed. It was wrong, and it felt so damn right.
Shoving her away, he sucked air into lungs that had
forgotten how to breathe. Every cell in his body screamed to kiss her again,
take everything she offered, take more than she offered, take everything she
was.
Destroy her, like he had her sister.
White feathers danced on the wind, swirling around them.
Her feathers, torn free by his violence.

Six Sentence Sunday: Blood Reign
Sadrina marveled that Pahele made it seem that she had a
choice and yet none at all with the very same words. If Pahele willed it, she
would be forced to accept it, and that sounded like imprisonment and
enslavement to her.
Yet,
she felt his gentle restraint. His domineering strength was held in check in
every way. His fingers held her secure, but it was a gentle prison. His powers
locked her within the realm, but he was also allowing her to have a will of her
own.

Six Sentence Sunday: Blood Reign
Hell simply wasn’t the same without her, but what had
finally brought her back to him? He reined in his physical response and opened
his mind to her. As always, the connection supplied all that was lacking in his
soul. His essence pulsed with power. He couldn’t let her leave him again. No
matter what had brought her back, he would bind her here, to his side.

Six Sentence Sunday: Blood Reign
Pahele shuddered as his realm of Niflheim shifted and came

His queen had returned at last.

First Kiss Friday: Blood Reign
A rather hot first kiss...
His sharpened nails bit into her thighs as he lowered his mouth to her breast. The painful claws countered his soft breath to perfection. The hot air was her only warning before his lips connected with her flesh.
Each gentle suck channeled her sexual need, enhancing the pounding blood that danced to his every motion. Heat pooled in her core, tightening the need, throbbing with the desire.
Or a more traditional kiss...
A nip to his chin drew his attention above her waist. He looked down into her eyes, his gaze burning with a fiery glow. A slow sexy smile covered his lips. “Will you satisfy me? Will you let us become one?” he asked. Then Pahele kissed her, his tongue swiping over her lips and plunging into her with the perfect dominance that was so much a part of him.

Six Sentence Sunday: Of Blood and Blessings
Amelia stepped back in surprise as she watched Grant change. His muscles bulked, doubling his width and ripping his clothing. His skin darkened in crawling blotches until it was black with intricate shadowy markings flowing down his arms. Large fangs grew from his thickening jaws as a set of long, curved black horns emerged also and swept back through his silky hair. Exquisite and wretched, the black, membraned wings fell from his shoulders like a tattered cape. Their silken sheen was at odds with the frayed looking edges.
This Sunday my six are from Blood Royals 1: Of Blood and Blessings. Available April 9, 2012 with Liquid Silver Books.
BLURB:
What is it about Amelia that drives Grant wild? As a Synn demon from royal blood, he should be able to control his desires. Yet, resisting her isn’t an option. He craves her blood, her body and something more.
Grant deals with former friends turned assassins and the sudden disappearance of his demonic mother, while trying to protect Amelia from the harsh realities of her life as well as his own dangerous desires.
Will his power and wealth be enough to keep her safe? Can Amelia accept him for the demon he truly is?
